2023 marks the thirtieth anniversary of the great dancer Nureyev’s death, whom La Scala in Milan is paying tribute to by reviving his “Nutcracker” after sixteen years – a production in which he appeared on stage many times as Drosselmeyer, who transforms into a magnificent prince. In the historical stage design by Nicholas Georgiadis, dreamy snowflakes, battles of mice and toy soldiers, sumptuous waltzes and extraordinary pas-de-deux accompany Klara’s dream of her prince.
