On 1 January 2023, Franz Welser-Möst conducted the New Year’s Concert for the third time. The major musical event with the Vienna Philharmonic in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein at the start of the new year relied almost entirely on a firework of premieres: 14 of the planned 15 pieces were heard for the first time as part of the concert. For the first time, too, the Vienna Girls Choir sang alongside the Vienna Boys Choir.
