The 9th Symphony by Beethoven, undoubtedly one of the greatest masterpieces of classical music, has over time attained symbolic status in various ways. For the 200th anniversary of its premiere, the European cultural channel ARTE has conceived an ambitious project, both organizationally and artistically: the performance of Beethoven’s world-famous symphony in four cities closely connected to Beethoven’s life and work, on 7 May 2024: in Leipzig, Paris, Milan, and Vienna.
