In the child-friendly adaptation of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s opera classic, the character of Papageno – portrayed by star tenor Rolando Villazón – serves as the master of ceremonies. His Papagena is portrayed by Miriam Kutrowatz. Ilja Kazakov embodies the priest Sarastro. Hiroshi Amako plays Tamino, and Serena Sáenz is the Queen of the Night. Philippe Jordan conducts the Vienna Philharmonic. Prince Tamino is tasked by the Queen of the Night to rescue her daughter Pamina from the hands of the priest Sarastro, who abducted her. Together with the bird catcher Papageno, Tamino sets out to search in Sarastro’s realm. Tamino finds Pamina, and they fall in love, but they must pass trials to finally be together.
