The closing concert of the Carinthian Summer features the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra as the new festival orchestra, together with the British conductor and pianist Wayne Marshall, shining a spotlight on glamorous American music. “American Rhapsody” was the working title of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody In Blue.” It aimed to fuse the smooth dissonances of jazz, the emotionally rich blue notes, with classical music – a sonic portrait of New York’s cultural melting pot.
