In Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte”, young Prince Tamino is tasked by the Queen of the Night to rescue her daughter Pamina, whom he has fallen in love with upon seeing her portrait. Together with Papageno, he embarks on a journey filled with trials. As a reward, he is granted Sarastro’s place beside Pamina. Papageno also finds his perfect match, Papagena. The production at the Vienna State Opera stands out for Barbora Horáková’s detailed, almost cinematic direction.
