The Marschallin has spent a night with Octavian, but the morning is disrupted by Baron Ochs. He asks her to find someone to deliver a silver rose to his bride Sophie – Octavian. Sophie also falls in love with him. Only after Ochs is caught in a trap is their happiness secured, while the Marschallin lets him go with a heavy heart.
