In Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Aida”; the Ethiopian princess Aida; who lives as a prisoner of war in Egypt; is torn between her love for the Egyptian general Radamès and her loyalty to her homeland. In 2023; the Vienna State Opera presented a revival of Nicolas Joël’s 1984 production. The set; featuring monumental Egyptian fragments and opulent costumes; reflects the historical grandeur of ancient Egypt.
